The Carnival of Personal Finance #168 - Fire Up the Grill, It’s Labor Day edition is up at One Caveman’s Financial Journey. It is a juicy edition and well presented, with a lot of good, meaty articles.

I especially enjoyed reading Fiscal Zen’s Clipping Coupons and Baking Bread: Is It Worth Your Time?. This is a great article that explains how to evaluate the cost of your time and the all-important “opportunity cost” whenever we do something or buy something. Opportunity cost is such an important factor in making decisions (both financial and otherwise) but is often overlooked or even misunderstood. It’s one of those topics I wish would get more coverage in schools today.

Sound Money Matters presents 8 Frugal Labor Day Activities. I love frugal activities and this is a great list for today. I especially like “Learn How to Can” as this is something I hope to learn this year. I worry that, as a community, we are losing some of our self-sufficiency and this is an important skill to have.

In Updated My Pension Allocation for Diversification, The Dividend Guy reminds us the importance of reviewing and re-allocating our investments from time to time. I am a big believer in asset allocation and taking even just an hour or two a month to review your investment plan.

I am pleased that my article Should You Carry a Credit Card? is included in the labor day roundup. Many thanks to Caveman for the hard work that went into putting together this fine labor day picnic!
